Anti-Virus Protection!  <Beginner>

We have all heard of computer Viruses.  They infect your computer and potentially eat your data.  The Internet has spawned another nemesis in the form of Malware.  Malware is a catch-all term for spyware, trackware, pop-ups, etc.

You may hear people discussing cookies.  On their own, cookies allow web sites to keep track of you.  This information can be used positively or maliciously.

The most recent Anti-Virus programs attempt to thwart malware as well as viruses.  We have scoured multiple reviews of features, read about the pros and cons, even downloaded and played with several of these…what we have discovered is that there is no silver bullet.

Virus/Malware writers are always working to beat Anti-Virus software and get to your computer.  Thus they create a moving target that is sometimes hard to hit.  Our research has caused us to rethink which program to recommend.

For the past decade, we have recommended Norton Anti-Virus.  Although a capable product, Symantec has added soooo many features that it is now cumbersome to use.  So, we have shifted to a 2 pronged recommendation.

Kaspersky antivirus

Kaspersky Anti-Virus was in the top 3 products for every review we read.  No other product was that consistent across the board.  It is comparably priced with Norton and offers a better response to Virus Outbreaks.

f-prot antivirus

F-Prot is our second recommendation.  It was not as consistent as Kaspersky but its price was much more economical.
